ZA Bank dates that look American
ZA often uses English headers (Date, Description, Withdrawal, Deposit, Balance) with Hong Kong day-first dates. 05/01/2024 is 5 January, not 1 May. We lock DD/MM/YYYY so Xero does not shift a whole month of rec.
Transfer to / Transfer from lines
ZA mashes counterparty and reference into one cell, e.g. “Transfer to Wong Siu Ming - REF: 12345”. We extract the payee and the REF so Xero’s bank transactions list is usable for matching, not a wall of “Transfer to” text.
